Houston Dynamo midfielder Danny Cruz is raising money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society with a campaign entitled Cruzin’ for a Cure, including an upcoming auction, campaign T-shirts, and a special ticket package for the Dynamo’s May 4 match, the club announced today.

The Houston Dynamo announced on Monday that the opponent for the 2011 Dynamo Charities Cup will be English Premier League side Bolton Wanderers — the current club of former Dynamo fan favorite Stuart Holden.
The U.S. international midfielder, who is recovering from a serious knee injury and may not be fit in time for the Charities Cup match on July 20, was in Houston for the announcement and sat down with MLSsoccer.com to talk about Bolton, the Dynamo, and his “tweeps.”

Former Dynamo midfielder Stuart Holden is in town while recovering from injury and joined the Dynamo at their downtown offices on Monday to announce that his new club, English Premier League side Bolton Wanderers, will be the opponent in the 2011 Dynamo Charities Cup. The match will be played at Robertson Stadium on July 20.

Dynamo Academy teams had mixed results on the first day of the 32nd Dallas Cup Sunday, highlighted by solid wins from the U-16 and U-15 teams.
In the most high profile match, the Dynamo’s first venture into the U-19 Super Group, Houston fell 2-0 to a strong side from Coritiba of Brazil. Just five games into the 2011 season, the Houston Dynamo are looking to accomplish something they could only do once in all of 2010: win back-to-back games. On Sunday, Dallas welcomes the world. The 32nd annual Dallas Cup, North America’s top youth tournament, gets underway this weekend as 70 youth soccer teams from overseas line up against the best youth teams the US has to offer.
Among those playing are academy teams some of the biggest clubs in the world, including Arsenal, Corinthians, and Barcelona. It’s that list of international teams that has the tournament’s executive director Gordon Jago excited about this year’s iteration.

Despite working on a tight time schedule, the Houston Dynamo were able to beat the clock and make a last-minute splash in the MLS spring transfer window. The Dynamo announced two transfer deadline-day deals on Friday for Spanish forward Sergio Koke and Jamaican international midfielder Je-Vaughn Watson.
“We’re excited,” said Dynamo president of business operations Chris Canetti. “We knew we needed to make some moves, and that was our desire to get it done before the transfer window.”

The Houston Dynamo are looking to build on their Robertson Stadium form and win back-to-back games when they play host to the New England Revolution on Sunday evening. The Dynamo are looking to do something it took the entirety of the 2010 season to do – and defeat New England for the first time at home – after a 3-1 win against Vancouver last weekend.
